endings and beginnings

over the past few weeks, i have witnessed the circle of life in motion. my great-uncle, who lived for one-hundred years, four months, one week, and one day, passed away. he lived a long, blessed, and full life, and hearing stories about him at his memorial service was a reminder of just how special he was. though we mourn his passing, it is hard not to celebrate the life he lived. it was definitely one that all should try to emulate.

one week after his passing, phrysque’s sister had her first baby, a beautiful little girl. in her still unfocused eyes, one can see the promise of new life. she has been blessed with a family who loves her, and she will grow up strong in the knowledge of that love.

as one earthly life ends, another begins. there is something so simple and beautiful about that.

“and we know that in all things god works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purposes.” – romans 8:28
