winter wonderland

it just keeps comin’. fluffy white flakes. i’m in the office on a saturday afternoon having just sat through a two-hour lunch meeting. fortunately for me, i found a parking spot someone had shoveled out and – miraculously – not saved for later with chairs and a broomstick. now i must leave that spot and make my way back to the unplowed street into my apartment. and there i will stay, forsaking an afternoon baby shower and, this evening, dinner with friends. here’s hoping the snow stops so i can go to church in the morning.

oh, yes! chairs and a broomstick, patio furniture, work horses . . . you name it, people use it to "reserve" the spaces they've worked so hard to clear.

honorable? i'm not so sure.
scared is more like it.
i'm afraid that if i move someone's stuff and park in their spot i'll come back to a car-length key scratch.
