yoga wednesday . . . a bit belated

this past wednesday, david and i went over to the apartment of steve and melissa on a mission of cheer. the night before, heavy rains had blasted the city of chicago, causing much flooding. steve and melissa were two of the victims of that flooding, their basement room having received inches of rain, which damaged many of their personal belongings. the following day, melissa was in a fender bender with a driver whose stories changed from moment to moment. needless to say, our friends were a bit frustrated with life.

wednesday was a beautiful evening, so we sat out on their back porch, where the guys had some wine and melissa and i had cosmos. during our conversation, melissa mentioned the possibility of taking a yoga class together . . . all four of us.
the following ensued:

downward facing dogs . . . sorta

yoga buddies

upward facing (and laughing) dogs

child's pose (aka "ann-marie's favorite . . . zzzzzzz.")

our happy hosts

after the numerous yoga poses came the reality that melissa’s best friend from childhood, audrey, and audrey’s husband, mark, are leaving for san francisco on tuesday. dave and i have gotten to know mark and audrey over the past few years and count them among our good friends, as well, and we, too, will miss them.

here are melissa and steve's unhappy faces at the prospect of their friends being 1,300 miles away:

more photos of our farewell to mark and audrey will follow.

the yoga pictures are fantastic, but i especially love the cute sad faces picture. i think i looked like that yesterday after leaving the velez luce home, too. except i may or may not have also had tears streaming down my face. thanks for hanging out with us last night. it meant the world. we're going to miss you!
