i'm gonna sing, sing, sing . . .

for many years now, i've thought it would be a good idea to take voice lessons. what has stopped me, you ask? primarily, the cost. that, and the motivation to actually find a teacher who wouldn't scare the bejeezes out of me.

my search ended this morning after church. our youth choir director, linden, sang a solo during the service, and i was -- to say the least -- impressed. to put it more precisely, i thought, "i wish i could make my voice do that."

i had seen a flier advertising voice lessons with her before, but didn't think seriously about it until today. seeing on the flier that her students must be at least 13 years of age, i approached her and asked if there was an age limit. she said there absolutely was not and, in typical linden fashion, jumped up and down while she asked if i wanted to take lessons with her.

so, we agreed that i would be one of her pupils (for a very affordable rate, mind you). once i find out my rehearsal schedule for cantate, i will set up a few dates with her. i'm thrilled at the idea that someone is willing and able to work with me to better my voice.

in the meantime, i need to go get ready for our church's evensong service tonight, for which i am singing in a small group. la-la-la-la!

Good for you! I hope you enjoy your lessons and that they bolster your confidence in your beautiful voice and already-impressive skill level!

You go, girl! You've taken the first step (sometimes the hardest one). I believe that your lovely contralto is a gift worth "bettering."

Way to set your mind to something and make progress towards it. The first step is usually the hardest!

AMO, you've always (well, since I've known you) had a beautiful voice. I'm so glad you're going to take this step.

yay! you will gain so much from lessons. since from what I know you've been singing for awhile already it's mostly just little tweaks here and there and new tricks to keep your chords healthy. i was a vocal coach for two h.s. students before and it's so much fun! i'd give you free lessons but that might be hard from washington.. hehe
